New Air Quality Program at the Council

The Iowa Environmental Council would like to acknowledge and thank the Fred and

Charlotte Hubbell Foundation for their generous, multi-year donation to the Council in support of our Air Quality Program. Their gift allows us to reseach air Quality problems in Iowa and develop air quality policy solutions to improve the health and well-being of Iowans.

Charlotte Hubbell is a founding member of the Iowa Environmental Council and has been generous with her time and expertise over the Council’s fourteen year history. She and Fred are passionate environmentalists who are relentless in their work to improve the world we live in.

As a non-profit organization, the Council depends upon the generousity of individuals, foundations and member organizations to do what we do best--to work toward a safe, healthy environment and sustainable future for Iowans. Thank you Fred and Charlotte for making it possible for us to expand our efforts and expertise!

New Staff at Council

Amy Broadmore joined the Council, on contract, as an Air Quality Program Director, in March 2007. This new position at the Council was developed to conduct research on air quality issues in Iowa, begin the process of coalition building and public education, and advise the Council on emerging opportunities to protect Iowa's air quality.

Amy has a J.D. degree from the University of Minnesota Law School, an M.S. degree in Ecology from the University of Minnesota Graduate School, and a B.A. degree in Biology from Grinnell College. While in law school, Amy worked at the Iowa Attorney General's Office where she researched the impact of global warming on Iowa agriculture. She has also worked as an intern at the Farmer's Legal Action Group and Minnesota Farmers' Union and has a special interest in working with farmers to protect Iowa's natural resources.

Amy works part-time from home, in Grinnell, most days, but has an office at the Council, too. The best way to reach her is by email at Broadmore at iaenvironment dot org.
