Iowa Energy Plan

As reported earlier this year, the Council’s Energy Program Director Nathaniel Baer has been appointed to one of four working groups that will help develop Iowa’s Energy Plan. The plan, led by Lt. Gov. Reynolds, the Iowa Economic Development Authority and Iowa Department of Transportation will set priorities and provide strategic guidance for a statewide plan to assess current and future energy supply and demand, examine energy policies and programs, and identify emerging challenges and opportunities.

The first working group meetings were held earlier this month, and six public forums have been scheduled across the state in March and April to provide more info on the plan’s development process and solicit suggestions and feedback.

The forums will follow an open house format with project team members available for one-on-one and group discussions. An informational presentation will be given approximately one-half hour after the public forum starts.

We encourage supporters to attend the forums, meet the development team and share their thoughts on Iowa’s energy future. Our Energy Program Priorities, offer some ideas to get you started. Members from our energy team are also available to connect if you have specific questions or would like additional resources prior to the forums. Contact Energy Program Nathaniel Baer at Baer@iaenvironment.org, or Clean Energy Organizer Barb Andersen at Andersen@iaenvironment.org
