Your membership in the Iowa Environmental Council is an investment in a safer and cleaner environment and in quality stewardship of Iowa’s natural resources. The strength of the Iowa Environmental Council depends on the participation of its individual members and supporters who represent communities all across Iowa.
A special $25 membership is available to first time members and students.
The Iowa Environmental Council is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Your membership gift is tax-deductable.
With your financial investment, over the next year the Iowa Environmental Council will be able to:
Accelerate efforts to reduce polluted runoff. Polluted runoff is the largest threat to clean water in Iowa and current solutions are moving too slow. The Council will bring years of experience working with industry and communities on their unique contributions to move Iowa’s water from brown and green to clear and clean. Iowa must focus more on what farmers and landowners can do. This requires expansion of tactics and strategies and engaging new
partners. Financial support from individuals is vital if the Council is to be successful.
Increase outreach and coordination across Iowa. Building our coalition, convening strategy sessions, tracking legislation and providing news and information to stakeholders are vital functions of being vocal and visible advocates for Iowa’s environment and natural resources. Individual supporters make these efforts possible; grants do not cover these vital on-the-ground actions. The Council’s ability to convene environmental leaders—and extend that network— depends on your support.
Create stronger energy efficiency programs. Next year, the
Council will provide extensive guidance to determine the energy efficiency programs offered by utilities in Iowa over the next five years. Your support will ensure we have the necessary resources to make the case for effective programs to increase Iowa’s overall use of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
In addition to helping Iowa achieve common-sense environmental protections, as a member you receive:
an invitation to participate in the Council's annual Environmental Lobby Day at the statehouse and a discount on registration fees for our Annual Conference,
a vote in yearly at-large board member elections,
monthly e-news, weekly e-mailed legislative updates and e-mailed action alerts when it is critical lawmakers hear from you, and
an invitation to attend policy working groups and provide feedback on policy decisions.
