Individual members are essential to the work of the Iowa Environmental Council. Beyond financial support, individual members are usually Iowans and constituents of Iowa lawmakers and rulemakers. Becoming a member of the Iowa Environmental Council lends your voice to ours, and strengthens our collective voice for the protection of Iowa's water, air and soils.
In addition to the membership benefits described on the membership home page, individuals are invited to elect at-large board members.

All members and supporters receive the following benefits:
Iowa Environment Quarterly -- Delivered to your home or business, this quarterly print publication contains human interest articles, analysis of Iowa's environmental issues and photographs by Iowa artists.
Monthly E-News Bulletin -- Emailed once a month, this bulletin is a list of upcoming conferences and events, announcements, new environmental resources, environmental job and internship opportunities, and general news from the Council.
Legislative E-Update -- Emailed weekly during the Iowa Legislative Session (January through April), this bulletin gives you information about bills which address water quality, air quality, energy and global warming solutions, and conservation funding.
Annual Members Meeting -- Once a year we hold an conference and a members meeting -- an opportunity to learn more about environmental issues affecting Iowans and meet other like-minded individuals. Members pay reduced fees at the conference and/or opt to attend only the members meeting at no charge. (Member organizations also pay reduced rates for display tables at the annual conference.)
Action Alerts -- We make it easy for you to take action when it matters the most, through an email alert system: ICALL. As we follow Iowa bills and rules, we contact you on the issues that you've indicated are an interest to you ONLY when it's critical that lawmakers and rulemakers need to hear from their constituents. Click on the ICALL logo on the blue sidebar to learn more.
Invitations to legislative events -- from lobby day to press conferences and legislative receptions, the Council facilitates contact between you and your elected officials and government agencies.
Our gratitude and the satisfaction of knowing you are doing something to improve Iowa for current and future generations!
In addition to action alerts, members can get involved in:
Water Quality Snapshots -- Twice a year (spring and fall), you can volunteer to help us test the water quality in Polk County. Organized by our Water Program Director, Susan Heathcote, this one-day event helps our staff and members learn more about Iowa's water quality.
Work Groups -- The Iowa Environmental Council has a reputation for coalition building and sound, scientifically-based public policy advocacy. Conducting workgroups from June through December each year is one way we do this. Workgroups are led by staff and attended by experts, lawmakers, state agency personnel, and interested environmental advocates. These groups help us research issues, build consensus and establish priorities.
From financial support to active involvement--whatever best fits your needs and situation--please Join the Iowa Environmental Council today.
