Member organizations are the backbone of the Iowa Environmental Council. In addition to the benefits listed on the membership homepage, organizational members have the opportunity to interact with a wide range of environmental groups and individuals working together to strengthen protections for Iowa's water, air and soil.

Our member organizations include a broad cross-section of not-for-profit organizations who are working to support a safe, healthy environment and sustainable future for Iowa.
are encouraged to participate in the Council's policy committee where new, major policy directions are proposed. Each member organization has one vote, but must be present at meetings to vote.
are encouraged to participate in the Council's issue workgroups, where policy solutions are created and prioritized, and consensus is built.
may pre-register for display tables, at no fee, for our annual Lobby Day at the state capitol.
may send representatives and/or lobbyists to participate in a weekly Roundtable at the Council, where bills are discussed and collective actions are strategized, during the Iowa legislative season.

How to apply
Member organizations renew their memberships annually. Membership rates are determined by the size of your organization's membership.
If your organization has fewer than 500 members, the fee is $100/year.
500-1000 members: $300
1,000-2,000 members: $500
2,000-4,000 members: $700
4,000+ members: $1,000
Organizations with many diverse purposes, in addition to environmental protection (such as faith groups) may become a member for annual dues of $100.
Organizations that are members must be concerned in whole or in part with protection of natural resources in Iowa. Organizational members must be in accord and not in conflict with the purpose and the functions of the Council.
If your organization wishes to join the Council, you must submit a letter, written by your executive director or board president, requesting to become an organizational member of the Iowa Environmental Council. It should be accompanied by printed information describing the organization's mission, goals, and programs and providing proof of non-profit or volunteer status. Applications for organizational membership are reviewed by our Board of Directors during a regularly scheduled meeting.
