Exercise Your Citizenship

Iowa legislators tell us their biggest need is to hear from their constituents. Legislators are public servants and cannot represent your views if you do not communicate with them. Our Action Alert system is designed to help you connect and communicate with Iowa's decision makers.

The Iowa Environmental Council's web pages, news bulletins and Action Alert center help you learn as little or as much as you want to learn about Iowa environmental bills and regulations being proposed or revised. Our Action Alert system then makes it easy for you to voice your opinions with elected officials and other decision-makers. Sign-up at our Action Alert center to receive email messages when it is urgent that decision makers hear from their constituents. Action Alert emails contain a brief description of the issue, links to more information, and a link to a sample letter/email which you can edit and personalize and send to the decision-maker.

Public policies are meant to serve the public. As a citizen of Iowa, your needs for clean water and air and natural places to recreate matter. Your concerns for the conservation of Iowa's precious agricultural soils matter. Your desire for safe, fresh, local foods matters. Become an Action Alert volunteer, speak up for what matters to you and help us put the public back in public policy.
