Explore creek critters and the winged world of butterflies, bumble bees, and hummingbirds at this family-friendly event presented by Prairie Rivers of Iowa and our conservation partners. Stop by Jennett Natural Heritage Area and the Berry Patch Farm between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. to hear about the wild bees that pollinate fruit and how to protect them through a variety of family activities. See monarchs and learn about their life cycle. Experience first-hand diverse plants and wildlife in remnant prairie, ponds, and streams.
Berry Patch Farm Activities
• Explore the wonderful world of native bees and build your own bee nest.
• Learn how bees help farms and orchards produce the food we eat.
• Explore the farm and orchards with a scavenger hunt.
• Pick and enjoy seasonal fruits fresh from the farm (fee required).
Jennett Heritage Area Activities
• Investigate the critters that can be found in ponds and creeks.
• See the wide variety and beauty of nature with a scavenger hunt.
• Enjoy guided pollinator and prairie walks and learn from the experts.
• Lear about the benefits of water quality, outdoor recreation, education and conservation.
• Learn about conservation practices and programs that benefit farmers and other landowners.
