About this event
The City of Des Moines has adopted ambitious climate action goals. Join us to learn about how the City of Des Moines is leveraging LEED to yield advances in sustainability across facilities and sites. Using a Pecha Kucha style presentation the speakers will describe the successful implementation of strategies at the Municipal Services II facility.
Learning Objectives
- Identify how City of Des Moines sustainability policy and initiatives are implemented through specific design practices and project examples.
- Understand the benefit of thorough site planning and analysis to effectively guide site selection, soil remediation and stormwater management strategies, improve habitat and connect people to the landscape.
- Describe how the commitment to LEED is yielding City facilities that are economical now, and in the future, while also supporting improved working environments for employees that work there.
- Identify sustainable mechanical and electrical design practices implemented at city facilities and how utility company contributions help the city achieve its energy goals.
