If approved and built, Wind XI would help keep Iowa on a path to exceed 40% wind energy in Iowa by 2020. While the project offers significant economic and environmental benefits and has strong support from state leaders, approval from the Iowa Utilities Board is not a given.

  • Clean Power Plan - Next Steps

    posted on Friday, February 19, 2016 The U.S. Supreme Court's decision to stay the Clean Power Plan has left many states questioning whether to continue compliance planning efforts until a final judgment has been made. So far, Iowa is moving forward with a stakeholder meeting on the Clean Power Plan. DNR will convene a meeting next Monday, February 22, in Council Bluffs and gather input from stakeholders on next steps.

  • U.S. Supreme Court Clean Power Plan Decision Disappoints

    posted on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 On Tuesday, February 9, 2016, in an unprecedented move, the U.S. Supreme Court voted 5-to-4 to issue a stay on the Clean Power Plan until litigation surrounding the standard concludes. We are disappointed with the Supreme Court's decision to stay the Clean Power Plan, a reasonable standard that benefits Iowa's economy, protects our communities, safeguards our working lands and strengthens our energy independence.
