Flint Water Advisory Task Force Leader to Speak at Clean Water Event
Shared insights, lessons learned will be focus of remarks at Pro H2O – Thirsty for Change
DES MOINES – Flint Water Advisory Task Force Co-Chair and Michigan Environmental Council (MEC) President Chris Kolb will be the guest speaker at Pro H2O – Thirsty for Change, an event hosted by the Iowa Environmental Council on Thursday, June 16 in Des Moines.
Kolb will speak about lessons learned from the ongoing water quality crisis in Flint, Michigan, and the importance of individual and collective advocacy for strong public policies that protect our communities, preserve our natural resources and enhance our economy.
“Michigan and Iowa face serious water quality challenges,” said Kolb. “While the individual issues may differ, the problems in both states pose significant threats to the health, safety and well-being of their citizens and communities. The tragedy in Flint has shown us that these issues need to be addressed now, this important work cannot wait.”
Kolb was appointed to serve on the Flint Water Advisory Task Force in 2015. He served as a state representative, Ann Arbor City Council member and in the environmental management field before joining MEC in 2009.
Pro H2O will also recognize conservation leaders Tom Hadden, Susan Heathcote and Paul Johnson for their work to create a safer, healthier Iowa.

WHEN: Thursday, June 16, 6 – 9PM
