IEC, Sierra Club Continue Efforts to Stop Massive Supreme Beef CAFO

The Iowa Environmental Council, the Sierra Club Iowa Chapter, and two Iowa conservationists filed a petition for a hearing with the Iowa Environmental Protection Commission (EPC) to appeal the Supreme Beef Nutrient Management Plan (NMP) approved by the staff of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) last month.

NRS is not 'makin' progress' on the Raccoon River

Last week, Iowa's Raccoon River landed at #9 on America's Most Endangered Rivers list for 2021. Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig dismissed the alarm of many Iowans, calling the list “propaganda” and saying the report was ‘not rooted in fact.' But data on the river is proof this waterbody is indeed threatened and the NRS is what is not rooted in fact.
