Raihan Amir Rashidi

Raihan joined the Council in December 2019 as a Clean Energy Field Organizer for the 100% Iowa campaign and she also assists with IEC’s development work. Born and raised in Malaysia, she has traveled to many places and moved to California for college before residing in Des Moines, IA. Raihan worked with a bike coalition in Oakland, CA where she gained experience in community outreach, event management, and sustainable transportation. Currently, as a field organizer, Raihan focuses on building relationships with individuals, organizations, and businesses to get them to advocate for clean energy in Iowa that aims to create a safe and equitable environment for all. She holds a B.S. in Environmental Economics and Policy and a minor in Sustainability from UC Berkeley. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, dancing, and solving word search puzzles.

  • Renewable Energy and the Next Generation

    100% Iowa hosted a Renewable Readers book reading for kids this summer, reading the book "Energy Island." The young readers discussed the book, ways to bring those ideas into their homes, and their thoughts on the importance of our clean energy future.

  • Collective Action Has Power

    Like a number of other organizations, we at 100% Iowa, a program of the Iowa Environmental Council, have been transitioning our clean energy work to the digital space. In April, we organized the online Renewable Readers: A Virtual Book Club Event, and the lessons learned remain important any day of the year.
