GivingTuesday 101

posted on Monday, November 28, 2016

This year, the Iowa Environmental Council is participating in #GivingTuesday. Since 2012, organizations and donors from around the world have celebrated the Tuesday following Thanksgiving by focusing on philanthropy. After shopping events like Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, #givingtuesday is a break from consumerism and a kickoff to end of year giving.

In 2015, over 700,000 donors from 71 counties raised 1.08 million dollars for thousands of deserving causes, including the IEC. To learn more, check out the official #GivingTuesday Facebook page or website.

This year, we invite you to get involved! There are so many ways to support the Iowa Environmental Council:

Participate in #35for35 -  IEC’s campaign to encourage Young Professionals and Millennials to reclaim the Environmentalist label and join the Council for a reduced rate of $35. Check out why this is so important in Friday’s blog post.

Donate to the IEC - Your tax-deductible gift to the Iowa Environmental Council supports work to advance clean water, land stewardship and clean energy in Iowa.

Check out our member organizations - Our member orgs are groups from across the state that makeup the backbone of the council.

Give your voice - IEC’s action alerts connect you directly with policy makers and provide an opportunity to make your voice heard on specific policies and pieces of legislation

What’s next?

After you contribute to the Iowa Environmental Council, share an #UNselfie-  take a picture and share your inspiration for giving or share your #GivingStory and inspire others to participate.
