Leverage Your Voice and Presence

posted on Thursday, March 16, 2017

This legislative session we’ve been posting about the different ways to talk to you legislators about issues essential to the health, growth and beauty of our state: renewable energy and clean drinking and recreational water. We’ve blogged about emailing legislators on specific bills through our action alert system. And we’ve given you tips for success when attending legislative forums (and we hope you’re putting them to good use).   Another strong opportunity to influence elected officials to attend Environmental and REAP Lobby Day, March 29, 2017 from 8:30am to 1pm.

Ralph Lobby Day 2016

Ralph Rosenberg, IEC Executive Director, speaking at Environmental Lobby & REAP Day 2016.

The point of Environmental Lobby and REAP Day is to educate legislators about the environmental issues and advances currently affecting Iowans across the state through conversations with constituents and organizations. Twenty-one organizations have committed to exhibiting on conservation, wildlife, outdoor recreation, renewable energy and water quality. United behind a passion for improving our state, we will visibly show policymakers that there is a broad base of support for policies that encourage further progress on renewable energy, sustainable funding for water quality and land stewardship.

We will provide a citizen advocate training at 8:30 A.M. in Room 116 to give you specific information on legislation we are supporting and opposing. Tips on sharing how environmental policies affect you and your family with legislators will also be provided. We encourage you to contact your legislators before March 29 to let them know that you will be attending Lobby Day and that you are looking forward to speaking with them.
