Since 2019, IEC has seen consistent growth and diversification in the funding that supports our work, and we are grateful for the leadership of Jordan Bles as our Director of Fundraising and Development.
From donor engagement, to fundraising events, to our grants portfolio, IEC has seen growth under Jordan’s tenure. Building on our long-running Pro H2O fundraising event, IEC combined environmental work with Iowa's love for the arts, connecting with the film community through the Wild & Scenic Film Festival, the music community through Environmental Mixology, and visual arts through the Green Gala.
Individual giving to IEC grew each year, and the environmental community as a whole benefitted as well thanks to Iowa Gives Green, a statewide day of giving focused on environmental causes launched by IEC and key partners in 2020. This day of giving, now hosted annually on the first Wednesday of August, helps dozens of groups gain funding for their important environmental work.
"We at IEC are grateful for Jordan’s fundraising expertise and professionalism," said Michael Schmidt, interim executive director for the organization. "We are sad to see him go, but we wish him all the best, knowing he'll remain a strong advocate for IEC's role in protecting the environment and an enthusiastic cheerleader for IEC's success in the years to come." Jordan will continue to support the arts community in Central Iowa, moving to a fundraising role with a Des Moines community theater group.
Jordan wouldn’t let us say goodbye without doing what he does: adding a fundraising ask. “I am leaving with an incredible amount of admiration for the team of professionals at IEC who do great work day in and day out to create a just, healthy environment and sustainable future for all Iowans. I look forward to staying involved as a member and donor. Will you join me in continuing to support this important work?”
Thanks, Jordan, and best wishes!
